In this EQA program trueness and precision of the HbA1c assay are evaluated. Trueness is expressed as the bias from the target set with the IFCC Reference method.

Details
Starting from 2015 fresh whole blood samples are used to exclude any commutability issue. A potential problem with fresh whole blood samples is ageing and therefore laboratories are asked to assay the samples within a couple of days.
Due to the very limited shelf life of the sample material, this scheme is not suitable for participants outside Europe.
This scheme falls within the scope of accreditation of the SKML according to ISO/IEC 17043:2023 with registration number R023 at the Dutch Accreditation Council.
