Each section is responsible for their particular scientific field of expertise. The section is also responsible for the planning and organisation of schemes. Each section has their own board, to which the members are nominated by the field-related scientific or professional associations and any associated or non-associated foundations. The composition of the section board is as much as possible a reflection of these associations. The section chairpersons together form the General Board (GB).
